“Good health is a process that often involves a substantive shift in mindset.” That line sits at the top of Rodney’s about page, and it is not decoration. It is the reason a martial artist and energy practitioner also holds certification as an NLP Practitioner and Master Practitioner.
What NLP does here
Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a set of tools for working with the language and mental patterns a person is running — the framing, the internal narration, the automatic response that fires before thought does. Applied to health, it addresses a specific and very common problem: someone knows what they need to do, has been told clearly, and cannot get themselves to do it. Or has recovered physically and is still living as a sick person.
That gap is not a discipline failure. It is a pattern, and patterns can be worked with.
Where it comes up
- Identity that has fused with a diagnosis — being a sick person rather than a person addressing an illness
- Fear responses attached to a specific event: a procedure, an accident, a diagnosis appointment
- Behavior that undercuts the recovery the person genuinely wants
- Getting clear on what you actually want out of this, which sounds simple and rarely is
- Preparation before a procedure, where the mental frame going in matters
How it combines with the rest
The Western disciplines Rodney trained in — NLP, Touch for Health kinesiology, Soft-Tissue Release, Bach Flower Therapy — sit alongside the Eastern ones rather than replacing them. A session is not billed as an NLP session or a Yuen Method session. Rodney assesses across the five levels and uses what the situation calls for.
The mental level is one of those five, and it is frequently the one holding everything else.
